Helpful Information
This guide aims to provide 'general' information about BMW transmissions, such as common issues that we've encountered and tips on determining fitment compatibility.
BMW interior mirrors have typically been well built, but with age the ball joints can become loose. If this happens it will usually make sense to find a low-KM second-hand replacement, as the new units can be prohibitively expensive due to their advanced features.
Many of the later BMW models come with interior mirrors that are equipped with advanced features such as auto-dimming and integrated displays.
There are usually multiple, non-exchangeable types of interior mirror within any given model generation. This can be to account for different options and features such as LED headlights or driving assistance.
The best way to determine fitment compatibility of a interior mirror is to match the BMW part numbers from the catalogue. This can be done by decoding your vehicle’s VIN in a BMW EPC (electronic part catalogue.)
If you don’t have access to an EPC, provide our team with your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN—and we’ll check our stock for a compatible match.
Interior mirrors are often interchangeable between models within the same generation.
