Helpful Information
This guide aims to provide 'general' information about BMW transmissions, such as common issues that we've encountered and tips on determining fitment compatibility.
Climate control panels aren’t a common problem in later BMWs—but the buttons and rubber dials can wear out with age, and some of the G-Generation units are particularly fragile.
The climate control panel is an operating unit—it controls various functions relating to climate control, seat heating and air recirculation.
Some units can also include vents—or controls for unrelated functions, like the hazard lights for example.
There are typically several variations of climate control panel for each model generation—to account for different vehicle options, such as heated seats.
The best way to confirm fitment compatibility of a climate control panel is to match the genuine BMW part numbers from the catalogue. This can be done by decoding your vehicle’s VIN in a BMW EPC (electronic part catalogue.)
If you don’t have access to an EPC, provide our team with your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN—and we’ll check our stock for a compatible match.
There is some interchangeability of climate control panels between vehicles sharing a common platform, but many of the units are unique to a certain model generation.
