Helpful Information
This guide aims to provide 'general' information about BMW transmissions, such as common issues that we've encountered and tips on determining fitment compatibility.
Typically we sell AC condensers for use in collision repairs—but old condensers can corrode, crack and develop leaking seals.
The AC condenser is part of a vehicle’s air conditioning system.
AC condensers functions similarly to a radiator, taking warm refrigerant vapor coming from the compressor and cooling it using dissipation, assisted by wind—which turns it into a liquid—before sending it into the evaporator in the cabin to absorb heat from the air.
Each model will typically have a few types of AC condenser. This is mainly to account for different engine types.
The best way to confirm fitment compatibility of an AC condenser is to match the BMW part numbers from the catalogue. This can be done by decoding your vehicle’s VIN in a BMW EPC (electronic part catalogue.)
If you don’t have access to an EPC, provide our team with your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN—and we’ll check our stock for a compatible match.
There is some interchangeability between similar models with similar engine types.
